Midterm Exam

Mon 01Jul2019 4:16PM

Midterm Exam (for the first half of the course) will be given on Wednesday, July 3, 7 - 9 pm in PHYS rm.338 (the same place as our lectures). Almost all of it will be from the materials discussed up to and including today (Monday, July 1) in lectures and/or homework, but there may be a small portion from a basic part of the material covered in lecture on Wed., July 3. There will be 2 parts: one that requires brief answers (with no derivation) and one (3 such problems) that are write-out (as in homework). So the format will be similar to that of the diagnostic quiz you already saw. This is a closed-book exam but some formulae will be provided in case you need them.

There will be no lecture on Friday, July 5, as compensation.

Please turn in HW4 on Moday, July 8 in class through Mr. Muterthies. As far as the graded HW3, HW4, and the Midter Exam, I will have them available in Rm.144 for you to pick up. (This is a change in procedure from what I had told you in class - I think distributing these would take a bit of time out of the lectures; so please pick them up from Rm.144 instead.)

Thank you and good luck!

Hisao Nakanishi

Welcome to PHYS600, Summer 2019

Wed 05Jun2019 11:05AM

Welcome (or welcome back) to West Lafayette, IN and PHYS600.

In the first half of this course (through July 5), this web site is used as a depository of various documents. BlackBoard will not be used in (at least in the first half of) this course.

Lecture Notes will not be uploaded (or do not exist), but some powerpoint files relevant to the materials will be upladed under the Syllabus and Course Documents folder. There will be weekly homework and one midterm exam during the first half of the course. Homework sets are not upladed here; you can only obtain it in class as a paper copy (unless you have a legitimate reason and with pre-arranged agreement with me). They are also to be submitted on paper in class on the designated due dates.

Bon Voyage and Good luck!

H. Nakanish
